Andrew began his career as an apprentice electrician, and quickly worked his way through the ranks to become a director of a Queensland top 500 company operating in commercial industrial and mining sectors. It was during this time that Andrew started to develop a passion for health and Safety. In 2004 Andrew started Safetylec Management Solutions and has built it up to employ 6 staff in the safety profession.
Andrew is one of only a handful of safety professionals that have completed the Safety study journey, from Safety Officer Qualifications, through to a Master’s degree in OHS. Andrew has also completed an Advanced Diploma Applied Electrical Engineering. It is this combination of trade background and study that allows realistic and commercially viable consultancy.
Andrew also believes in giving back to the community and the Safety profession and does so through his membership of Rotary, Chairing a Regional Support Committee for Scouting, and is a current director of the Safety Institute of Australia.
Monique Maunder – Operations Manager
Monique was born in the USA but raised in Cairns and has over 30 years’ experience in accounting and operational matters. As well as this commercial experience, Monique is the main support mechanism behind Andrew.
Monique also believes in giving back to the community and is a member of the International Women’s Service Organisation – Inner Wheel, where she has been Club President, District Chair and currently serves as the Australian Directory Coordinator.
Ernie Hanslemann – Senior Trainer /Consultant
Ernie has been with us for 5 years and is our senior trainer, Ernie comes with an extensive background in emergency services, mines rescue and paramedic services, and spent many years working for RIO Tinto and BHP in WA.
Ernie believes in providing practical training, ensuring participants fully understand the reasons behind what is being presented.
Ernie also believes in giving back to the community and was the Newman SES rescue officer and manager for some 15 years.
Samantha Loch – Administration Manager
Samantha is a born and bred Cairns Girl; Samantha joined Safetylec in January 2007 as an adult trainee and has worked her way up to Administration Manager.
Emma Wyhoon – Marketing Consultant/Safety Professional
Emma is our newest consultant to Safetylec; Emma has a duel role undertaking Safety Consultancy and Marketing.
Emma is a certified OHS Practitioner with over 15 years’ experience in the safety industry. Emma’s passion for health and safety coupled with her diverse experience makes her an ardent safety consultant. Emma is also part of the SIA Certification Governance Committee.
Emma is committed to social justice and human rights topics and is actively involved in related campaigns.
Glenn Dutton – Consultant /Trainer
Glenn is the new face to Safetylec, but has been involved in the safety profession in and around Cairns for some 20 plus years. Glenn is highly experienced in the Construction, Corporate, Fire, and Safety Training pillars of Safetylec.
Glenn also believe in giving back to the community being involved in SES Cairns for some 18 years, and has recently stepped back his involvement after 7 years as the local Cairns SES Controller. During his time as a local controller Glenn was awarded the National Emergency Medal for outstanding service.
